Creative Ways to Display Your Photography
2Photography has been around for hundreds of years, and the same methods have been used to display them since nearly the beginning. There are decorative frames, corkboard collages and scrapbooks galore. And while yes, there are always new ways to spice these up and decorate these display methods, I suggest taking a different route.
Because sometimes, with special photographs, there should be new and innovative ways to display your photographs – a way to make them as unique and special as they are themselves. Thankfully, with the advances in technology in recent years, there are more options available than ever before when it comes to displaying your photos. And some of them are downright creative as well.

Digital Photo Frames
One new and exciting way to display your photography is via an electronic digital frame. These don’t have the highest impact ever, but they are able to hold a plethora of photographs with a constant slideshow going, making it a great way to display a bout of photography. It’s kind of an ever-running display of your work. Of course, depending on the brand of the digital frame you get, they’re not always the best display of superb photography. They can have problems with image clarity and graininess. Despite this, they are a great way to keep a vast tide of prideful photography always on rolling display throughout your home.
Try getting a few and making different albums always on play. It gives the home a real theme feeling based on what images you choose to play. For example, you could focus on greenery and flowers and blooming life in spring or family photos when the relatives are in town, or holiday scenes. The only limit is your imagination.
Vinyl
Another recent technological wonder for displaying photographs are window cling vinyl. With transparent vinyl, which clings to windows, your photographs can take on whole new meanings and locations. It adds a real depth of photography to your home when you even have images in your windows. It is also a great way to distract from what could have once been an unsightly view. Imagine having your very windows to display your artwork. What new and creative angles could you take to further step outside the box?
Maybe the window cling isn’t your style. You should still check out vinyl banners! They can truly make some amazing results, and look great hanging up high. Use them as ceiling decoration or as a banner throughout the home. Either way, instead of small, fragile pictures they become huge, weather-resistant results that everyone can enjoy. Some photographs can really benefit from enlargement, showing off a depth and vivaciousness that were previously hidden.
Custom Wallpaper
Custom wallpaper has also become an amazing way to transform a beautiful photograph into an everyday living space. It is truly amazing what can be done with custom wallpaper. They can take photographs and make surprisingly detailed, vivid wallpapers. With advances in printing, custom wallpaper suppliers enlarge the photo (without ruining the resolution) and turn the wallpaper into a mural of the original photograph to cover an entire wall (or section of a wall, depending on how large you want it).
The whole process can still be relatively expensive, but the results can be absolutely stunning. This is also an emerging market in businesses. Big businesses that are looking to be trend-setters and viewed as creative are using it in their business spaces. It adds a depth of customization hard to replicate in any other fashion.
Nothing will emphasize the beauty of a photograph like a giant mural covering an entire wall in a public setting. It is truly a great addition to the display of photographs.
Around the House Objects
With online resources constantly expanding, there’s a great variety of options for customizing around the home objects with personal photography. Calendars, eventbooks, stationary, gifts, home décor, mouse pads, mugs, etc. can have photographs added to them.
This allows a fun use of great photos all around the house. It also allows you to spice up otherwise boring and plain objects that you use potentially every day.
Clothing
Clothing can be another fun everyday use object that can be transcribed with your personal photography. There’s a variety of online options and websites that help you accomplish this, which makes the whole process surprisingly easy. I’m not suggesting you go out and get every photo on every piece of clothing, but a select few on a sweatshirt or T-shirt might be a nice addition to your wardrobe.
Don’t let yourself be trapped in conventional display methods for photography. Don’t be afraid to venture outside the norm! It’s amazing how much more creative your photographs can seem when you use an unconventional canvas. It doesn’t necessarily have to be any of these suggestions. Sometimes the best displays we’re most proud of are the ones we thought of ourselves. The whole idea is to get the creative juices flowing and spark ideas. Hopefully you can find a great and unique way to display your photos.
Do you have any unusual displays you love to use? Or are you more of a tried and true person?
Thank you for sharing interesting stuff.
Big fan of the custom wallpaper. I did one wall in our house with one of my photographs I took on our vacation to Ireland last year. Amazing. I found a company who does an amazing job printing the wallpaper. Canvas Press – http://www.canvaspress.com if you want to check them out. Fantastic quality. Thanks for the great ideas!
