Creative Animated GIFs Project by Mat Lucas
0Animated GIFs always remind us to the early days of the Internet. It was the only way to create animated content on website even before the ability to embed videos and other technologies such as Adobe Flash.
Animated GIFs technology was very basic and allows only small and basic animation with limited color range, but it was good enough to create simple animated banners. One of the good advantages of GIF images is that it can run on without the need of any plugins or extra code in your web page.
Mat Lucas,UK-based artist and graphic designer, created a unique project while learning some computer graphic applications such as Cinema4D, After Effects, and Photoshop. In the 89-A project, he started to create different animation loops using these above-mentioned applications and export it as animated GIFs format.
Naming the project is based on the original version of GIF format, which was called 87A in 1989. Then, the there was an update for this version called 89A, which supports animation delay.
While the animated GIFs still got some limitations such as the noise that results because of the limited color support in GIF formats, the amazing animated GIFs below show a creative usage for the this simple technology. You can find more interesting animated GIFs in Mat’s personal website.
The above examples show that even simple technology can be a source for creativity in the hand of creative artists or designer. I hope you enjoyed these animated GIFs and find it inspiring.
