Valuable Tips for SEO Copywriting in Product Promotion Online
5Today’s Online Business has a widely coverage which is not only based on Social Media – which is more popular day by day – but more on Marketing, Online Branding and Advertising. One of the online marketing components is called SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This is widely used nowadays to increase traffic on websites.
However, having a lot of traffic on your website doesn’t automatically mean you are promoting your product well, or that you are selling a lot of products that you are manufacturing. Having a lot of traffic only means, you are halfway through this complex process of creating a brand for an online product.
Running an online marketing campaign is not easy, but if you follow some guidelines, you are already making a big step in turning your unknown product in a wide-known brand. Try to stick with the following five tips and you are on the good road:
1. Focus on the Content and Reviews, not on the Keywords.
You will notice a lot of SEO copywriters are focusing more on keywords, instead of doing a better job while writing an article. Turning a marketing campaign into a successful one and thus promoting your online product better is not only a matter of keywords but it is actually more a matter of content than keywords.
It is easy to point out an article written for SEO purposes only but, it is not as easy to write an article which appeals to the user. Articles coming as positive reviews from previous buyers are far more important and helpful for your business than a SEO article with a keyword density of 3% written by some freelancer who never tried the actual product.
Ask for reviews and opinions from every customer. This way you will be able to show your product is used by people who are happy with it. Articles with keywords don’t mean too much, you will only create a bad image if you overuse them.
2. The Conversion Rate is more important Than the Position in Search Engines.
Marketing people tend to appreciate the position and visibility in the search engines more than the conversion rate. This is wrong. Sure, being on the first page after several searches in Google and Bing helps a lot but as I stated before, this will only help you in getting a lot of traffic. To actually grow and maintain a successful business, you need to sell. Selling is the main point and target of an online promotion campaign.
An optimized website ranked within the first three in a specific Google search it’s only appealing for the search engine. But the search engine will never buy your product. It is actually better to have a page with less traffic, but with a higher conversion rate. What would you prefer, having a page with 5,000 unique visitors each day and selling 10 products or having a page with 100 visitors but selling 15 products?
People believe that bringing a lot of visitors on their webpage will increase the sales, but this is not always true. Sure, the probability of someone becoming interesting after landing on the page is high, but it is unlikely to work so well for you on a long-term.
There is nothing wrong with optimizing the webpage. So, it is shown on the first Google search page but you have to keep the visitor interested as well. If you do not catch his attention in five seconds, he will go back to Google and wind up on another page which meets his demands.
3. Links and Bounce Rate are Far More Important Than Traffic.
We talked about how traffic is not important compared to conversion rate. We go on telling you that the traffic is not as half as important as the bounce rate and the sites that link back to you. The user engagement is really important when talking about bounce rate. If your campaign manages to keep the user interested then, it is a successful one.
Keep them on your page, decrease the bounce rate, increase the time spent on the website and the number of visited pages, and you can call your campaign very good. Do not focus so much on the traffic. If 100 people land on your page daily and spend 4 minutes reading and scrolling through, it is far more productive than having 5,000 users who spend there an average time of 21 seconds and have a bounce rate of 86%.
Links that send users to your page are important as well because users are far more reluctant to buy something found on Google than something recommended by a blog they read as an example. Recommendations are powerful signs of trust for internet users. No position in Google can match that.
The SEO can bring in a lot of traffic even through spam, but this is not going to increase your sales. Furthermore, your product will not become a powerful brand, but will remain one of the million marketing campaigns out there trying to get out of obscurity.
4. Large Keyword Density is not equal with Optimizing a Page.
There are lots of SEO techniques out there, but the majority of the SEO copywriters believe keyword stuffing is the most efficient. It is not always the case. Optimizing a page doesn’t mean posting tens of keywords in articles. There are many other ways, which are not only spam-free, but are also appreciated by search engines.
- Page Title – it has to contain main keywords, but the most important word has to be the first one. Don’t make it longer than 65 characters and have a different title for each page.
- The URL – Modify it so, it includes keywords. Not only Google will index it better, but it brings a bit more usability. Thanks to the fact that the users can read the direction of the article in it.
- The ALT Tag – Every image you insert on the webpage has to have an “ALT” tag, which contains keywords for the picture. Do not include keywords alone, but put them into short sentences such as “Me visiting Paris together with my wife“. “Picture, Paris, wife, me, visit” will not do too much.
- Keywords Placement – Alright, we talked about how keywords are not very important compared to other components, but there is somewhere you could use them without having too much SEO knowledge. That is in the first and last paragraph of an article. If you make a product review, the first paragraph will be an introduction. Insert the keyword / keywords there only once. The last paragraph will probably be a conclusion, so you could insert another keyword there as well. Do it naturally, do not let the readers believe you forced a sentence only for that keyword. Average users might not get it, but proficient internet users will realize what you did.
5. Hire a Professional SEO Copywriter.
With so many companies being interested in becoming well-known, the number of SEO copywriters increased a lot lately. This doesn’t mean the quality of their work is stunning. Freelance Content Writers believe they have SEO knowledge just because they are able to introduce keywords in a text without the reader to notice, while web designers believe they can do this job properly because they know how keywords and Meta tags work.
The best option is a professional SEO Copywriter. If you have a business and want to create a powerful brand for it, go for a Webdesign and SEO company. They might be a bit more expensive than a freelancer, but the work they can do for you is flawless. I am not saying all the freelancers are poorly prepared, but most of them are only going to be paid for basic stuff you could do yourself.
A professional SEO Copywriter is able to write SEO friendly, to raise your webpage’s ranking without having to spam the engines. They know techniques for keyword density and right placement and so on. Go for a pro, it’s the best way to promote your online business or product the right way.
Having to promote an online business or product is not an easy task, and you will need not only time to do it, but also professional co-workers. SEO and online marketing is not only about keyword stuffing. It is way more beyond that. You have to keep in mind coding, content, search engines rules, tags and many others. Only a good SEO Copywriter can do it for you the way it should be done. So, do not be afraid of paying for those services. It is better than doing it yourself and winding up with a page considered as spam by Google.
When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks!
I do not have a way to remove you, and I believe other sites who use the same feature have the same issue. But I will investigate in this and see what I can do.
